Thank you for visiting “Risky Business,” a name born out of an article I wrote last year for EARTH magazine about the risk modeling industry (linked here).
I have a jumbled background in planetary and earth sciences, an obsession with extreme weather and other natural hazards, especially hurricanes and volcanoes; a passion for travel; a fascination with the human condition pertaining to risk perception and science intolerance; an interest in the growing use of social media by science institutions, a love affair with maps; and a curiosity for building, technological, and policy design geared towards hazards resiliency.
This blog is a space to report and reflect on these often intersecting issues, whether through text, maps, videos, podcasts, gifs, or art.
Buckle your virtual seatbelts, internet users, because this is going to be a wild ride.
P.S. – I am always open to ideas, feedback, etc., so please engage me!
